Atelier Paolo Milani

In the small village of Pietrasanta, a bit more inlands and right above the well known holiday village of Forte dei Marmi, I discovered the colorful atelier of fashion designer Paolo Milani. Or do I have to say: collector, connoisseur, artist of colors and couturier? Milani isn‚t that interested in fashion, his main goal is to make beautiful and unique pieces out of the tons of fabrics he collected during his worldwide journeys (cool detail: the creative director of the Dutch Centraal Museum in Utrecht is one of his dear friends; a postcard was lying around when I visited the atelier).

Paolo‚s taste of colors and fabrics is impeccable and he knows to combine them in a creative but wearable way. His strong signature style contains great ankle length skirts and flowy holiday dresses – an update for your summer wardrobe indeed but the perfect base for the perfect wedding gown as well! The proof was hanging behind closed doors, not yet for the world to be seen, made out of beautiful Italian lace for one lucky (and wealthy…) Italian lady.

So if you are in the area, please make sure to spare some room in your budget to buy a never-out-of-style summer skirt – it will last a lifetime and it will bring your inner Sophia Loren out. Drinks on the perfect patio of the atelier included.
